CATA Functional Specification

Overview

This is a functional specification document created to design an information system for the Capital Area Transportation Authority's bus routes. The functional specification includes details about the design of the application that would aid the CATA system. The application, Find My Ride, provides Greater Lansing's public transit users with information about their transportation service options. The functional spec is the document that lays out the front-end development that would be read as directions for software developers to continue with the back-end formation of the product.

Process

This project involved interviewing users of CATA to identify breakdowns in the current scenario and to get an understanding of desired features. The interviews were used to develop a user persona which captures the needs of a person who uses CATA. All of the activities involved in the transportation process were identfied. An object oriented diagram was created to explore the relationships between entities in the current system.
